What I've been doing this weekend

No wildly exciting Australia Day events here (although we did have a BBQ with good friends on Sunday!) I took the long weekend as a good chance to catch up on crafty projects. I finally finished David's Christmas socks (100% wool should be just right for the 41 degree heatwave we are expecting for the next three days!) I have also been working on this:

which goes with this:

made for this sweet but probably unappreciative wee girl:

I started this at a "gathering in the hills" run by my local quilt shop The Patchwork Apple. It was a class by Helen Stubbings (her blog is "hugs and kisses" - you can see the whole quilt there) The fabric is called Flirt by Robyn Pandolph (who is one of my favourite fabric designers) This is one project that I intend to finish this year!

I have also been sewing two more giraffes for expectant friends (babies due March and August) My friend Nic has a photo of the giraffe I am talking about on her blog "Through My Eyes" These giraffes are by Melly and Me and I have to say I have made way too many of them!

Also wanted to show you what we do on any given Sunday at our house?!? Hannah saw egg and spoon races on a Hi Five video and wanted to give it a try. At times we can't keep up with our 4 chickens so James agreed. Would have loved to show you an action shot but the condition to this blog is that his Highness not be referred to or photographed for it so you didn't hear it from me that James had as much fun as the kids did. Surprisingly, only two eggs were lost out of several races (which hopefully means our children inherited coordination from their Father!)

Have a wonderful week and stay cool!
Keep smiling,
Nell
